Navy/Transport

Historically, CAPSIM activities began with marine, military and civil applications. CAPSIM developed a particular competence in the analysis of on-board electricity grids and stability problems linked to their islanded nature.

Hence, CAPSIM has been able to model, simulate and analyze electricity grids on cruise ships and military vessels. The movement towards electrical propulsion for many applications led to increasingly powerful grids supplied by higher voltages. Power plants for buildings can exceed 100 MW with heterogeneous combinations of generators. Analysis by calculation and simulation is necessary to understand and control transient phenomena in all their operating configurations.

CAPSIM is also active in the railway sector, in particular handling power supply problems for trains or the integration of tramway and metro projects on urban electricity distribution grids. Because of the static energy conversion systems, CAPSIM is often asked to work on problems of energy quality (harmonics, flickers, resonance and ferroresonance, etc.).
