The Company

CAPSIM is an independent consulting and engineering office, specialised in electrotechnics and energy systems. Since 2020, CAPSIM has been using its expertise to serve both public and private sectors and support the energy transition.

Assistance at every stage of your project

With specialised expertise in electrical networks and energy production, CAPSIM provides you with assistance throughout all the stages of development of your projects:

  • Pre-project: realisation of preliminary projects, solution comparisons, master plans, electrical architecture studies, cost estimation;
  • Sizing and study of installations:
    • Electrical studies LV, MV and HV: calculations of cables, voltages, load flow, reactive energy compensation, short circuits, protection/selectivity plans,
    • Study of energy producer connections to transmission and distribution networks, compliance with grid codes,
    • Specific electrical studies: stability, transient, electromagnetic, harmonics, ferroresonance, etc.,
    • “System” studies: FMEA, reliability studies, dynamic numerical modeling;
  • Implementation/commissioning: writing specifications, defining and testing procedures, validation/approval of technical documentation;
  • Operation: incident investigations, measurement analysis, impact analysis of modifications, etc.

Applied expertise across a wide range of sectors and professions

CAPSIM operates in all sectors of activity: renewable energy production, nuclear or thermal energy, industry, energy transport and distribution, sensitive installations and defense, embedded systems, research centers, datacenters …
Its expertise spans from static sizing studies to transient phenomena, supporting the following professions:

  • Electrotechnics and electrical networks from low voltage to high voltage (HV) (machines, distribution and transport equipment, protection systems, etc.),
  • Primary energy sources and storage (solar, wind, BESS, diesel engines, steam or gas turbines, etc.),
  • Power electronics (inverters, converters, variable speed drives, etc.),
  • Professions interfacing with electrical equipment (mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, control/regulation).

A team of expert electricians specialised in calculation and simulation

CAPSIM’s major strengths lie in its expertise of modeling and simulation tools and techniques applied to energy systems, as well as its cross-disciplinary experience with electrotechnical issues in the industry. The combination of these two areas of expertise enables CAPSIM to predict, quantify, and analyse the behaviors of electrical networks, electrical systems or energy systems, whether under normal or incident conditions.
